No classes today

There are no classes scheduled for today.

Update:

Very choppy seas today.  Luckily, it doesn't bother me one bit, but I guess some people are really feeling sea sick.  Julie (the ethnomusicology professor) now has her boyfriend onboard (he got on in Cape Town and will be onboard through Mauritius).  Last night, when people asked where he was, she said that despite claiming he's been on boats before and has gone on a cruise without any problems, he was throwing up and unable to keep any medication down.  He apparently had to go to the doctor to get a shot and was asleep in Julie's cabin.  Today is even worse than last night so he must not be doing well today either.

The main thing I did today was try to grade some papers and then in an attempt to procrastinate, I joined a group of staff people who are in my age range and we played the board game Risk in the faculty/staff lounge.   Along with John Paul (the AV coordinator), John Paul's wife Shannon, Joe (the videographer), Mark (the Global Nomads Group director) and Tom (one of the residence directors), we started the game at around 3:30 pm, took a short break when we had another muster drill at around 4:15 pm, played some more before breaking for dinner at 7:00 pm and then at 10:30 pm, we were still playing the same game we started at 3:30 pm.  Needless to say, I didn't get much work done today.

We will advance our clocks by one hour tonight which will still only make us 7 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the U.S. because of Daylight Savings Time going into effect in the U.S. tonight as well.
