I had dinner tonight with most of the people I hung out with last night (Anne-Claire, Simon, Matt, Leslie and Kate). Emily, one of the nurses on board the ship, joined us as well. We ate in the bigger dining hall located on Deck 5 and it was definitely a change in terms of the crowds. We had to search for a table and eventually found one. I mentioned in conversation with Anne-Claire that I still need to get to New Zealand and that I would probably try to plan a trip down to New Zealand and Australia as my next big trip after this one! She said "well, if you wait about 2 years, you can come visit us." Simon is from New Zealand and apparently he has to return there in order to be able to return to the States again to teach (I wasn't completely clear on the logistics of it, but the gist of it is that Simon and Anne-Claire know they will be moving to New Zealand in about a year and a half...Anne-Claire is from Baltimore and was born in France. I think she said she came to the States when she was 2). At any rate, it would be wonderful to be able to visit them in a few years and have friends to meet up with down there...so that's now on my agenda...a trip to New Zealand and Australia in about 2 years! Simon and Anne-Claire also have something in common with me in that they are both students at American University. (They are both currently finishing their Ph.D.s and met by being in classes together...I did my M.F.A. down at American).
